Random

NO interesting name for this really! its just a im bored blog again. They seem to happen a lot. I think its cos wen i come to relax i cant watch tv so i think pants i have nothing to do, then i come do this! I just ate pancakes. Its 11.30 but i just got back from the pub and me flat mates had a pancake party earlier but had some mixture left over so i came in and made them. My first one was so bad that Laura took over and after that they were truly beautiful! And i ate them with a happy face, as you should.

I did a bit of a greek day today and realised that i actually suck at greek, which in itself sucks cos i do a lot of work on it. So i am discouraged. But have no fear i shall rise and continue with my greek suckiness until good old george says ‘Katharine you are the most rubbishy person at vocab in the whole world’ and i will respond with ‘im sorry george’.

Anyway, i am currently more than a little excited about the end of my film fast and am asking countless people to the cinema to celebrate. I think the lack of tv is in fact sending me insane. Today i made some drastic mathematical mistakes wen counting up justice and decided we had sold twice as much chocolate goo than we really had. It confused me cos nothing added up. Unsuprising really!

Anyhoo, i am sounding a bit odd this evening so i am off to bed.

The DaVinci code

Not much more, but i just thought i would say i also feel rather sorry for the Opus Dei cos Dan Brown was hardly friendly towards them and the way he portrayed them was definatly not fair to their actual practise. Just had to add that in.

Fasting almost over

You know i have had my ups and downs, but have successfully managed to watch no films or tv for almost 3 weeks now and it finally feels like it is almost over. I am going home this weekend so i wont have to think about it whilst there and then there is only a week left when i get back, so i am very excited.

I never gave an update on Paul’s ‘helicopter’ and the update is, they made a very good fan but no helicopter. So to put it bluntly it didnt work!

Paul is driving down to Cov tomo and poor thing, i am going to put on my greek vocab cd so look forward to Paul being able to speak ancient greek to you all, well say things like ‘Die’ anyway, which i guess wouldnt be too friendly but you wouldnt know what he had said so really it wouldnt matter.

THis is a very random post, but i am really bored because paul is at the cinema and all my flat mates are watching tv, so really i have nothing to do other than write nonsence no one really wants to read.

Ooh, on a slightly more interesting note i just finished the DaVinci Code. Dont know how many of you have read it but i was impressed. He is a convincing writer, if a bit of a fool for believing the Priory of Sion prank but i am looking forward to the film in May. Tom Hanks, and best of all Sir Ian McKellan! COOL!

Making a Motor

I had a great day yesterday. We went into town for breakfast with some of the folks from church, then me and Paul went to the Urbis (a museum place - very cool) then we went to Helen and Ruths apartment for a while. They had one of those sticks with propellors on top which you spin between your hands and it flys (i dont know if it has a name or if anyone knows what i mean but really it is irrelevant) anyway Steveo and Paul were playing with this for a while, then they decided to go and buy a motor to make it fly. We then spent half an hour in the shop trying to find the parts to make this thing fly and they spent £10 on it, they then couldnt actually do it because the rugby was on at the apartment and with my not being able to watch tv we couldnt go back there. Anyway it was very funny, it just seems so random to decide to make something which can already fly across a room fly more with a heavy motor on it and i thought i would share with the world the randomness of Paul!

We then came back here and played monopoly which i lost spectacularly, I HATE losing, it was very sad.

Religious Experience

How would you define religious experience? Or would you even say there is such a thing? We did this in uni yesterday and the things people came out with were extraordinary. When we came to the question of are any religious experiences genuine one guy said that if two different people saw the same vision, id assume without communicating, of, for example, Jesus then it would be genuine. But with all these different images of Jesus then they cant be real. Whereas most people responded with it is the character of Jesus that comes throughin such experiences. Anyway it is a complicated issue as everyone has a different opinion. As with many things. Just wondered what people thought.

Desperate Housewives and Harry Potter!

I had to miss desperate housewives last night and that was hard! The big problem is that on the other side of my bedroom wall is the tv, so i could hear a lot of it. Although it wasn’t too bad in the end because Paul came round and left at 5 to 11, so there were only 5 minutes left, and then they only go and decide to turn over to E4! So it went on till midnight, grrrr! But the plus side is that i am actually quite busy, and i have got Paul to read Harry Potter, so that is wicked. He enjoyed the sixth book so why shouldnt he enjoy the rest?!

Fasting for Katharine

I see a fast as something that has a large and significant part in your life that you give up for a period of time to focus on God. Therefore I have decided to fast for a month, but my fast is films, the cinema, tv. This is a big decision which will be my no means easy, Paul took away my DVD box and all other films i have this evening and so now i have nothing to watch. But this does somewhat have an impact on this site. So for a while i will probably just talk about the randomness that is my life and will share anything that happens which could be considered exciting for me at any rate!

So no more films for a wee while. Sorry folks.

Desperate Housewives!

Ok so still not a review, but had to mention the fact that desperate housewives starts again tomorrow! It is so exciting, I have waited in anticipation since the last series ended.

Had my first exam today, it was bad, it was one of those answer two questions so revise 3 topics. This i did in earnest only to turn over the paper today and see that not one of my topics came up! How bad is that. I blagged the best answer i have ever managed but when i read it through (as i had plenty of time to do) i realised my 10 year old sister probably could have done better. But all hope is not lost. So long as i pass all other modules i wont have to retake!

Dont forget to watch Desperate Housewives, 10pm tomo on 4!

BORING!

Ok so this whole katharinewelby.co.uk thing has not so far been particularly exciting, but i have an exam tomorrow which i started revising for today, so films really are out of the question!

But anyway, i apologise for the complete lack of excitingness.
