:To See or Not to See

We were going to see Notes on a Scandal this night, but i couldnt be bothered with something that would make me said or depressed or any other negative emotion so we went for this instead. I think we should have gone to notes on a scandal! Not that this wasnt fun it just wasnt really that good. The plot didnt seem to flow very well so there was a lot of bouncing back and forth and i didnt really get into it as a result. A nice chick flick style story with a good cast just not particularly excellant in any particular way. Notes on a Scandal will not be avoided again.

Paul reckons this is not as good as Shaun of the Dead but i disagree. It is hilarious, the idea of there being gun fights between small town cops and old villagers is fantastic! It is full of cameo appearances that just add to its appeal. There isnt really much i can say, well there is lots i can say but i cant really bothered seeing as it is all going to come down to the fact that you really should go see this better than anything else in the cinema at the moment (that i have seen!).

This was beautifully timed to come out just before valentines day. It is a funny, enjoyable and happy film that combines possibly two of the best rom com actors in Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore and it works a treat. After the last two films i had seen this was a bit of a relief, Empire really didnt like it, but i disagree. I dont really know what it was about it that i liked so much but i just think you should go see it.

This for some reason felt much more raw than Blood Diamond, there were some spectacular performances from both Forest Whittaker and James McAvoy and defiantly deserves the acclaim it recieved. I think what made it feel more real was the fact that it was not concluded it ended with no nice neat conclusion which left me with a feeling of slight despair at what people are capable of. Because this was about a past dictator there was no feeling that you could do something to change the story but a definate thought of it needing to be prevented from happening again.

I dont think i could say i enjoyed this but it was definatly a brilliant film.

This is a film that has had some amazing reviews, and it was very well deserved. For me it was enough of a Hollywood film, with the happy all sorted ending and the love interest, for it to be slightly disconnected from reality, which made it easier to watch. And yet it still made sure that you thought about the issue it was addressing. THe child soldiers and the amount of innocent lives lost just because they got stuck in the crossfire rang true and showed up the issue in a very real light. It effectively highlighted how people are exploited from every side and can lose everything for someone elses gain.

Brilliantly acted especially by Leonardo DiCaprio this is definatly one to see.
