The Queen

Steve very rightly pointed out that this should called The Queen and Tony Blair as it was just as much about him as her. I thought it was brilliant, the whole Diana incident is a sensitive subject, and as this film shows the Queen was attacked for her handling of it. It is a very interesting film, but as Vic pointed out not really got much action of any kind in! So if you want to see a purely political film (of which there are many at the moment) i think this is very much worth it.

John Tucker Must Die

This is the one we went to instead of harsh times, and in case anyone is wondering we did not be naughty and just walk in we paid for more tickets, although it was still a super cheap night, as i have a bunch of gift vouchers for the amc and our movie watchers card had hit 100 points so we got a free ticket and free large popcorn and coke. Anyway off point. This was definatly better! A silly american teeny film but very funny! I dont really know how else to describe it. Its not epic oscar winning material but is a light and easy happy film to watch. Definatly worth walking out of harsh times for!

Harsh Times

This is the first film i have ever walked out of in my life! It was sooo boring. I think when we left it was probably just about to get better but to be honest we had already watched 45 minutes of it and it was too lateƂ I was uninterested! So Paul went along with silly Katharine’s glares and left avec moi! Dont really know what it is meant to be about but they were in a car lots, swore lots and did lots of drugs, oh and i think one of them might have been a soldier!

doesnt deserve a rating - if you disagree please argue!

Crank

Crank was wicked! Its kind of strange and quite violent, but the idea is clever and the way it is filmed is really cool. Jason Statham was fantastic as the main man, you find yourself sympathising with him, but he really isnt very nice. It is a bit more than just action for him and it shows that he can act much better than i had thought. It is about an assasin who, as revenge for a hit, gets injected with a chinese poison which will kill him, the only way for him to survive is if he keeps his adrenalin up. It is quite funny and definatly worth watching.

The Sentinel

The Sentinel, we watched this last night and i really enjoyed it. It is about an assasination attempt on the president of the US plotted by one of the secret service, but they get the wrong man. It was well written and well acted. I have never really been a big fan of Michael Douglas, but he was very good in this. The beginning was a little slow as they were setting the scene for a very long time, but it didnt effect the film too much.

Firewall

This is out on DVD now and me and me little bro got it out the other day. It has Harrison Ford and Paul Bettany, and was very entertaining! Paul Bettany, playing a charming but evil character, once again showed his ability to play a truly evil character very well. Im not often a fan of Harrison Ford since Indiana Jones, but he suprised me in this. It is about a man (Ford) who’s family is kidnapped by Bettany’s character and his pals and held hostage so that Ford will rob the bank he works for going through the high security system that he himself created. The only unrealistic part is that if Bettany and Ford had a fight, they would be evenly matched - Ford is ancient and Bettany way bigger than him. Other than that a very good film, dont know how we missed it in the cinema!

Miami Vice

Miami Vice was very good. I havnt seen any of the original TV series so had no real preconceptions, other than apparently pastel! It was a fast moving film with plenty of action and drama, this is Colin Farrells perfect kind of role and he has done it before in things like SWAT and The Recruit, there is not too much feely stuff for him, just plain action. Jamie Fox had the girlfriend troubles, so he had to do the really hard acting. Anyway, definatly worth a watch.4 Popcorns

Superman

Superman was for me the best film of the summer. I hadnt seen the originals when i went to see it (i now own them) but it didnt matter cos it didnt really follow on. Kevin Spacey’s Lex Luther was brilliantly evil, and he is the one who really stands out for me. There is much less ’save america’ in this one in comparison to the old ones which i think is a definate improvement. But if you havnt seen it yet you definatly should.
